Taking portraits of my interviewees is an essential part of my oral history work. Like the recorded words, the photographs capture a moment in time, often at the end of a long conversation. I hope the portraits add another layer to each story, sometimes by showing the interviewee holding a photograph of themselves or a meaningful object from their past.
